Colourful Music is a creative and educational initiative that explores the connection between music, colour, and visual arts.
Through engaging programs and vibrant resources, Colourful Music introduces the foundations of music in fun and interactive ways that encourage meaningful learning, creative exploration, and rich storytelling.
It is meant to be expressive, imaginative, and inspiring.
Creator/Educator
Scott McIlwraith (B.HSc.; B.Ed.)
Scott is a dedicated and curious teacher with a passion for redefining the possibilities of music education. A graduate of Western University with degrees in Health Science (B.HSc.) and Education (B.Ed.), Scott embraces a multi-disciplinary approach to education that reduces barriers of entry and promotes broader participation and accessibility. Scott believes that strong music education programs play a vital role in improving the health, well-being, and life-satisfaction of individuals and communities.
Programs
Colourful Music offers personalized 1-on-1 and group programs throughout Southwestern Ontario, Canada. Programs are tailored to the unique needs and interests of the participant(s).
1-on-1: These are beginner-to-intermediate sessions designed around each student’s pace, goals, and musical interests. In this supportive 1-on-1 setting, learners build skills, confidence, and an enriched personal connection to music. Sessions are 30-60 minutes and can be conducted online or in-person. Instruments: Piano; Guitar; Ukulele; Music Theory; Composition
Group: These are beginner-to-intermediate sessions that weave musical study together with visual art, creativity, and collaborative storytelling in a fun group setting. Through a blend of games, writing, visual art, composing, and hands-on activities, participants deepen their understanding of musical elements while creating, sharing, and interpreting music in ways that showcase their creativity and imagination. Sessions are 30-60 minutes and are conducted in-person. Instruments: Piano; Guitar; Ukulele; Music Theory; Composition
