“What colour is music?”

This simple question was the inspiration behind the Colourful Music pedagogy.

Colourful Music is a playful, imaginative approach to music education that blends sound, colour, and storytelling. Rather than treating music as something only to be read or heard, learners are invited to see and shape music through visual art and composition. Colour becomes a creative tool—one way to explore mood, structure, and musical ideas—opening new pathways for understanding and expression.

Through a flexible, colour-guided system, participants create, interpret, and re-imagine music in ways that feel personal and meaningful. Colours may suggest notes, ideas, or emotions, but they are not fixed; instead, they support creativity, interpretation, and musical choice.
